Minecraft Pocket Edition hits Windows Phone.

Revealed in October, Minecraft Pocket Edition for Windows Phone has today been released and it contains everything you need from Minecraft on a mobile device.

In a bonus for all the budget-minded Windows Phone users, the game is even compatible with 512MB phones at launch - no need to wait for a patch as with other recent game releases.

Unfortunately it does not appear to have Xbox Live integration, which seems like an opportunity missed seeing that Microsoft have recently purchased Minecraft creator Mojang for $2.5 billion.

Minecraft Pocket Edition has multiple modes.

  • Survival mode: pitting you against the world's many hazards.

  • Creative mode: build and explore to your heart's content in forests, deserts, or the many other environments you can find. You can journey alone, or play with your friends over a local Wi-Fi connection

Similar with other platforms Minecraft Pocket Edition is available for sale at $6.99, with no trial version available.

Hopefully Xbox Live integration and Achievements will be added later.
