When Hollywood and Video Games meet: Two differing stories
Eurogamer have two stories that show how different things can be in Hollywood when it comes to Video Games.
One, the hope. The Assassin's Creed movie, staring Irish 'heart throb' Michael Fassbender has now got a new and final release date - December 2016. It's a long way out and leaves plenty of time for us to hope that this will be for video game tie-ins what the Arkham series of Video Games has done for Comic Book / Movie tie-in.
It is a good date because it manages to avoid all of the Marvel, DC and Star Wars releases over the next few years and will look to have Christmas to itself.
The Other, despair and loss. BioShock the movie was pencilled to have a $200 million budget and be an underwater spectacle and had gotten to the preproduction stage when the studio got spooked and wanted to cut the budget by almost 70%. The director walked and the whole project collapsed.
BioShock creator, Ken Levine, had said that the project is essentially dead and that we should not be expecting it any time soon.
