McDonalds to bring Wireless Charging to 600 restaurants across the UK

No sooner had the ink dried on our article yesterday about two of the three main Wireless Power groups agreeing a truce and deciding to work together moving forwards than the third group manages to score a direct hit against that group.

The holdout group, the Wireless Power Consortium, announced yesterday a massive expansion into the UK Market. The group are teaming up with fast food giant McDonalds to bring Qi wireless charging to around 600 restaurants across the UK.

The expanded rollout comes after a successful initial market test between Consortium Member Aircharge and McDonald’s UK aimed at delivering additional value to customers, while also benefitting the McDonald’s operation.

According to the group there are already more than 70 Qi-enable smartphones on the market.

What do you think of this rollout? Will it ever benefit us in Ireland?

Let us know if you're Lovin' it in the comments. (Sorry, couldn't resist)
