Forza turns 10 this year. Forza Motorsport 6 announced in 'surprise' teaser video.

When is a surprise not really a surprise? When the writing is on the wall that it will be coming anyway.

Microsoft's Forza series has been extremely successful and over the past number of years has alternated between the more petrol-head friendly Motorsport series and the open world Horizon series.

This year the Forza Motorsport series turns 10 years old (sorry, bad pun on the Forza developer Turn 10" thoroughly intended) and as such it would have been a brave man to bet against a sequel to the beautiful Xbox One launch title Forza Motorsport 5.

So, where is the surprise in the announcement? Well, it is because no one expected it so soon into the new year. Timed to coincide with the announcement by Ford of the all-new Ford GT.

Speaking to the press Dan Greenawalt, creative director at Turn 10 Studios said of the announcement, “Just as Ford has pushed the boundaries of car technology in GT, Forza Motorsport 6 will embrace that spirit of innovation as our most technically advanced racing simulation to date, offering a fun and realistic automotive experience for both car lovers and gamers,”

When asked about when we can expect to get more information about gameplay, Greenawalt added, “We’re excited to unveil gameplay at E3 in June.”

So, we need to sit back and be patient to see what new goodies that Microsoft and Turn 10 can bring to this XBox One exclusive that will likely ship before in time for Christmas 2015.
