The recent launch of the YouTube Music site has proven popular, as has the YouTube Kids App designed to make it easier for families to have a safer video-viewing experience. YouTube are looking to captialise on this momentum by offering fans an ads-free version of YouTube for a monthly fee.
The monthly fee has not yet been published, several sources indicate that YouTube will offer content creators up 55% of the net revenue generated by the subscription fee, based on the amount of time watching your content as a percentage of the overall content watched. Content creators will continue to be offered 55% of the revenue from display ads for non-subscription fee paying users accessing content.
The subscription offering is expected to be available to the public early in the summer. Stay tuned for more information.
