Fallout 4 detailed, Coming to PC, PS4 and Xbox One 10. November
More than seven years after Fallout 3 was released, Fallout® 4 will hit Irish shelves and be available worldwide on Tuesday, November 10, 2015 for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.
Already announced before Bethesda held their pre-E3 conference last night, the developer took to the stage to reveal more about the hotly anticipated title.
Set in post-apocalyptic Boston, the game actually starts before the bombs drop in a family home. Players can customise themselves as the husband or wife and explore their 50's home of the future. A Vault-tec salesman disturbs your morning to ensure that they have your details correct and assures you there is room for you and your family. Just as you settle back in to your domestic bliss your robot assistant, Codsworth, calls you back to the living room as news reports come in of nuclear detonations all over the country.
You must run with your family, and the rest of the town, to the local Vault and just as you arrive at the entrance, the bombs go off and as the mushroom cloud blooms into the sky you are left wondering about the future or whether you will get inside in time.
Avoiding any great spoilers, Bethesda jumped to a point later in the game, when you have emerged from Vault 111 to see the ruins of your town. Approaching your home Codsworth, still working after the blast, informs you that you have been gone for almost 200 years.
The rest of the game will be an open world adventure that will have you cross paths and guns with various factions, eventually leading you to the ruined centre of Boston itself. You are not alone on this journey, as a trusty canine friend will join you on your adventure. More than a gimmick you dog can be used in combat and also given various commands to go and fetch equipment or items that may be out of reach.
As if Fallout games were not deep enough already Bethesda look to add further depth by adding an element of tower defence and civilization rebuilding to the game through an optional building and crafting sub-game.
For collectors, Bethesda will also release the Fallout 4 Pip-Boy™ Edition which in addition to the usual metal case, illustrated book and poster, it will include a Pip-Boy Replica. A wearable device that replicates the in-game model and comes complete with RobCo Industries stand, custom-printed capsule, adjustable foam cuff, rotating knobs and lights.
It holds most Android smartphones or iPhones and when used with the official Pip-Boy companion mobile app it will allow players to manage their in-game inventory, perks, holotapes, and more.
Talking of the Pip-Boy replica, Todd Howard, the game's director said "As far as stupid gimmicks go, this is the best F---ing one I've ever seen."
The Fallout 4 Pip-Boy Edition will be available through pre-order in the coming days and will retail for €129.99 in Europe, with the standard edition expected to retail around €69.99
