International YouTube stars join PlayersXpo line-up
There was a time when Gaming was all about the games - the big publishers and manufacturers showing off the latest blockbuster title or the newest hardware. In recent years this has changed because services like Twitch, YouTube and Mixer have made streaming of games a new market segment.
Many self-confessed gamers spend less time playing games than they do watching others play games, talk and joke about the games they play or just their day-to-day life. These streamers, often grouped under the category YouTubers because that is where they mostly start out, can attract millions of subscribers and billions of views.
PlayersXpo, the two-day Gaming Convention at Dublin's Convention Centre, has just announced the first of their international YouTube stars that will be in attendance. With a combined subscriber-base of over 11 million subscribers, these YouTubers certainly have a sizeable following.
Having launched his channel at just 16-years-old, ‘Slogoman’ a UK-based YouTube celebrity has over one billion views across all his videos, while his English-speaking Dutch counterpart “Jelly” doubles the dose, with his 6.6 million subscribers gifting him a jaw dropping record of over two billion views to-date. Jelly’s well-known girlfriend and fellow gaming maven Sanna (iamSanna) also joins the PlayersXpo bill, posting immersive fan focused content daily with an impressive 93 million views of her own.
"We’ve been sitting on this amazing news for weeks now, so it’s really exciting to be sharing it with the fans! I think the fact that this is just the first in a series of planned line-up announcements is testament to our commitment to this event. We were so determined to give fans the chance to see their heroes, but equally to be inspired by our own home-grown talent, with some fantastic grassroots acts joining the bill"
- Michael Finucane, Creative Director, PlayersXpo
In addition to these international acts, there are some local YouTube stars to bring an Irish flavour to proceedings. Irish comedy gaming trio AllCast Irish Gamers, stream queen Anti-Tinklebell (Tink) and Dublin based retro game enthusiast, Naoise O’Hara (Retro Gamer Ireland) are all confirmed to appear.
On the weekend of 28-29 October, PlayersXpo will be giving pros, fans and families alike the chance to see the hottest gaming celebrities and get hands on with some of the most anticipated video games of the year, this interactive event will be hosted in a series of action packed sessions.
