iDig Music Festival joins PlayersXpo 2017 line-up for RetroGames Live concert and Celtic Link album

Two major musical events by the Dublin International Game Music Festival (iDIG) are the latest act to top the PX2017 bill this October Bank Holiday weekend.

Over 20,000 attendees are expected to descend on the Capital across 4,5000 square metres of exhibition space and a 2,000-seater auditorium. The Convention Centre will be home to the largest celebration of PC and Video Gaming of its kind in Dublin. PlayersXpo was already announced to have the latest games and technology from the major entertainment companies, including Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft, and a host of international YouTube stars.

iDig first launched in 2015, the brainchild of Irish composer and conductor Eimear Noone, known for her award-winning work on "World of Warcraft" and the hugely popular "Overwatch" games, and her Emmy-nominated husband Craig Stuart Garfinkle. PX2017 is the perfect opportunity for with all the very best of the fest to return to the capital.

Hosting a series of seminars and interactive panel discussions across the weekend, the celebrated duo will be examining the business of video game music from bespoke beat patterns to trailer track secrets, with a Demo Derby also giving fans and aspiring creators the chance to submit their own works on the day for review.

“Ireland always punches above its weight in terms of creativity and musicality. We are a tiny country with huge ability and big dreams. To be home, to be able to perform, to be able to share the stage with first class, professional musicians both international and Irish is momentous. I am so proud to be involved with this showcase of talents.”

Welcoming the DIT Traditional Irish Music Ensemble to PlayersXpo for one night only, iDIG will host the exclusive world launch of their highly anticipated album, “The Celtic Link,” as part of the Saturday night session. Michael Finucane, Creative Director for PlayersXpo, announcing the collaboration said; “It is truly an amazing feat for PX2017, in its first year, to attract creators and performers of the calibre of Eimear and Craig. They are hugely successful on the world stage, connected to some of the biggest game and film franchises and their work has been heard and enjoyed by millions of fans all over the globe.”

iDig join other entertainment and YouTube stars, announced earlier this year, Slogoman, Jelly and iamSanna along with homegrown Irish streamers AllCast Irish Gamers, Anti-Tinklebell (Tink) and Retro Gamer Ireland.

iDIG will close out the weekend with a stand-alone headline event, accompanied by a live Orchestra for the Irish premiere of RetroGames Live, giving fans the chance to enjoy an epic musical performance featuring some of the most memorable tunes from games of the 80’s and 90’s.

General admission student, adult and family pass tickets are available now for both the Saturday 28th October and Sunday 29th October at www.players.ie priced from €25.00 each, with the chance to register for the individual in-session events and further line-up announcements coming soon.
