Rey Returns as Three New Star Wars Movies Announced
Somehow [Rey] Palpatine Returned...

After more than four years of a hiatus from our cinema screens, Lucasfilm announced today a trio of new Star Wars movies will (probably) be coming to our screens in the coming years.
Making the headline announcements at Star Wars Celebration Europe, in London, today the movies were announced with directors James Mangold (Jurassic World, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny), Dave Filoni (The Mandolorian, The Clone Wars) and Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy (Saving Face, A Girl in the River: The Price of Forgiveness) attached.
Covering many different eras in Star Wars, the movies will be set in the dawn of the Jedi (Mangold), between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens (Filoni) and the biggest surprise of all was that Daisy Ridley would return as Rey Skywalker (nee Palpatine) in the movie to be directed by Oscar-winning director Obaid-Chinoy, set fifteen years after Rise of Skywalker with Rey as a Jedi Master training a new generation of hopefuls.
Although it has been several years since Star Wars has appeared on our big screens, with multiple projects mooted that have yet to materialise - such as the ill-fated Rogue Squadron with Patty Jenkins, or oft rumoured movies by Taika Waititi and Marvel supremo Kevin Feige - Star Wars has had a significant renaissance on Disney+ with a string of hits like The Mandolorian and Andor.
