Star Wars Outlaws: A New Hope for Scoundrels
If you've ever dreamed of exploring the galaxy as a rogue with a heart of gold, you're in luck. Ubisoft has just announced Star Wars Outlaws, the first-ever open-world Star Wars game, coming in 2024 to Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC.
Star Wars Outlaws is set between the events of The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, a time when the Galactic Empire is hunting down the Rebel Alliance and the criminal underworld is thriving. Cleverly sidestepping the moral black and white of the Jedi and the Sith, you'll play as Kay Vess, a clever scoundrel who is planning one of the biggest heists the Outer Rim has ever seen, hoping to start a new life away from the Empire's tyranny.
Kay is not alone in her adventure. She is accompanied by Nix, a loyal and adorable alien creature who can sense emotions and hack into devices. You'll also meet a variety of characters along the way, from bounty hunters and smugglers to rebels and Imperials. Some of them will be allies, some will be enemies, and some might be both.
"There's a whole galaxy out there waiting for us. Let's go make some trouble."
- Kay Vess
Outlaws promises to deliver a rich and immersive experience that lets you explore iconic locations from the original Star Wars trilogy, such as Tatooine, Hoth, and Bespin. You'll also discover new planets and secrets that have never been seen before, while also customising your appearance, gear, and skills, as well as your starship, which you'll use to travel across the galaxy and engage in thrilling space battles.
The game is developed by Massive Entertainment, Ubisoft's studio behind The Division. The team has a great deal of experience in creating open-world games backed by strong technology. They are also working closely with Lucasfilm Games to ensure that Outlaws stays true to the spirit and lore of the Star Wars universe.
Star Wars Outlaws is shaping up to be an exciting and original addition to the Star Wars gaming legacy - an open galaxy that fans of the movies, the books, or the shows have wanted to explore, for years. We have a new hope that we will find something to love in this game.
As the new heroine (or anti-heroine) Kay Vess says in the trailer: "There's a whole galaxy out there waiting for us. Let's go make some trouble."
