Twitter 2.0: New CEO Shares Her Vision
A week after taking the helm of Twitter, Linda Yaccarino has revealed her plans for the future of the social media giant. In a series of tweets and an email to employees, the new CEO said she was on a mission to make Twitter the world’s most accurate real-time information source.

She also outlined her vision of transforming Twitter into a “global town square” that would “drive civilisation forward through the unfiltered exchange of information and open dialogue about the things that matter most to us”. She hinted at new features and products that would enhance the user experience and engagement.

Yaccarino took charge of Twitter earlier than expected, following the departure of Elon Musk, who stepped down as CEO to focus on his other businesses. Musk, who bought Twitter last year for $44bn, had faced criticism over his approach to content moderation and disinformation. He had reinstated some controversial accounts and loosened the rules on what users could post, which led to a drop in revenue and the departure of some senior executives.
A veteran media executive, Yaccarino previously led the advertising sales business at NBCUniversal. She is credited with launching Peacock, the company’s streaming service, and navigating the challenges of the changing media landscape. She now oversees the business operations at Twitter, while Musk remains as the executive chairman and chief technology officer.
