Just in time for the Girls in Green making their debut on the largest stage in international soccer, the World Cup, FIFA 23, is adding the Women's World Cup mode for the first time in its history. The mode will be available as a free update in late June 2023.

The Women's World Cup mode will include all 32 qualified nations, authentic stadium dressings, match presentations, dedicated commentary, and the official trophy. Players will be able to choose from three different ways to play the mode:

  • Player Career: In this brand-new mode, players can create their own custom player or select a real player from one of the national teams and lead them to glory. Players can control only their player or the whole team as they progress through the stages of the tournament.

  • Tournament: In this mode, players can select one of the 32 qualified countries and play through the authentic FIFA Women's World Cup 2023™ in a single player tournament mode. Players can rewrite history by changing the outcomes of the matches and lifting the trophy with their chosen team.

  • Kick-Off: In this mode, players can enjoy a quick match against friends locally or against the AI by selecting from a Group Stage or Knockout Round match and two of the 32 qualified nations. Players can also adjust various settings such as difficulty, match length, weather, and more.

The Women's World Cup mode is part of EA Sports' commitment to celebrate and elevate women's football in FIFA 23.

The Irish Women's National Team will be playing in the World Cup Finals for the first time in the history of the women's game in Ireland and will also be the first Irish team to appear in a World Cup since the men's team in the World Cup in 2002.

The sports site, Balls.ie, went through the ratings for the Irish women's team in FIFA 23 and several of the players have received strong ratings, notably Katie McCabe receiving an 84 and several other teammates rated higher than their male counterparts (the men's team has a highest rating of 77).

This reflects the great work and accomplishments of the women's team and hopefully bodes well for a good World Cup in Australia and New Zealand in July and August. #CoyGiG
