EA Share Next-Gen Details of FIFA 21 Ahead of 4. Dec Launch
In our FIFA 21 Review, we had a good look at the latest iteration of the FIFA juggernaut on the Xbox One. This year's game is fast, fluid and high scoring - almost as crazy as many games in this year's delayed Premier League.
There are significant improvements this year, the 'first touch' control really impressed as it has made ball handling more realistic and gives a player the ability with a perfectly timed deft touch to gain the upper hand on a defender.
Launching just before the start of the next console generation, we knew that FIFA 21 would receive an update with features specific to the new PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. In fact, anyone who purchased and played the game on a now last-gen console would receive Dual Entitlement - they would receive a digital copy of the game for their new console when it would be made available on 4. December.
Today, EA Sports, has peeled back the curtain a little to let players see some of what they will see next week when it goes live. The sights and sounds of FIFA 21 are reimagined for next generation consoles, with the brand new EA SPORTS GameCam inspired by the look and feel of top-level football broadcasts and LiveLight Rendering, a deferred lighting system that enhances every aspect of the on-pitch experience.
New pre-game cinematics such as team buses arriving prior to kick-off and the buzz of fans entering through the turnstiles have been added to further immerse fans in the total matchday experience. During live games, new contextual player, bench, and fan reactions respond to key match situations, allowing players to feel the explosive passion and intense drama of big goal moments like last-minute winners or relegation-saving equalizers.
From Kick-Off to Career Mode, players will never lose focus on the upcoming match as stadium environments will load with unprecedented speed, letting them get to the start of the match in seconds.
Players who buy, or who have already bought, FIFA 21 for PlayStation 4 and/or Xbox One can get the PlayStation 5 and/or Xbox Series X|S version of the game for free from December 4 - If you bought the game on Disc, you'll need to contact EA support directly (at https://help.ea.com) to get the digital code. Players can also take their FUT Club and VOLTA FOOTBALL squad to the next generation and back again with cross-gen transfer markets in FUT 21, as well as all their FUT and VOLTA FOOTBALL content and progress.
The next-gen version of FIFA 21, updated for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, will go live on Friday, 4. December 2020.
